2023 Treasure Coast Pre-Season Baseball Rankings

#1 Jensen Beach went 26-5 and won the 4A District 12 championship in 2022 and was Runner-Up at the 4A State Championships. We have them ranked 1st in our Preseason Rankings and project them to win the 4A District 13 Championship. Coach Corey Cooke lost a big part of his pitching staff but has a very solid team offensively and defensively. If pitching comes together this will be a dangerous team this season.

The Falcons had 8 seniors graduate. Key Losses, RHP/MIF Player of The Year Patrick Ward (D1-Florida Atlantic University), INF Patrick Gillen (D3-Calvin University), MIF Cade Crews (Juco-Palm Beach State). LHP Cade Gilcrease (NAIA-Warner University). RHP/UTL Kyle Derrenbacker.

2023 Key Players: RHP Chris Knier had a 0.97 ERA and was the Pitcher of Year. He led the Falcons to a District Championship and all the way to the State Championship Game. Senior transfer Kevin Smith (Louisville Commit) will solidify the infield and bring another high-end bat to the Falcon's offense. We look for Junior LHP/1B Ty Velardo to contribute on the mound and bring a power bat to the lineup. Junior OF Dylan Fatovich should start in center field where his 6.5 speed and is one of the fastest in the area. However, he may need to play shortstop to fill the void of not having last years shortstop Patrick Ward. We see Conner Cantillo as the potential right fielder having one of the strongest outfield arms in the area but if Fatovich goes to short Cantillo would most likely slide to centerfield. Cian Copeland is also a new face to the Falcon's and will add another power lefty bat to the lineup and will be a corner guy. He will also solidify the pitching staff. He was up to 87 mph this past summer. Over Jensen will have a better defense in 2023 along with a more complete Lineup. Pitching will be the key to them making a run at a 4A State Championship.

#2 John Carroll were 19-10 and were the 2022 2A District 13 Champions. We have them ranked 2nd in our Preseason Rankings and project them to win the 2A District 13 Championship. Head Coach Dave Para always plays a challenging schedule to prepare his teams for Districts and beyond and has them once again playing the hardest schedule out of all the Treasure Coast area teams. We once again expect them to be at their best come the second half of their season.

The Rams had 7 senior players graduate in 2022 which included some of the top talent from the area. Key losses include Armani Newton (D1-Florida Gulf Coast), Egan Keeler (D2-University of Central Missouri), AJ Wydra (NAIA-Thomas University) Grant Gilooly (Juco-Sante Fe).

2023 Key Players: Senior Tracen Cameron ( D1-Florida International Commit) will look to lead the Rams offense. Senior Jake Rychter should bring the power to the middle of the line-up hitting from the left side. Senior Ryan Chapman (NAIA-Thomas University) a true utility guy and should also contribute innings on the mound. Senior Jaylon Monds also a football prospect will bring toughness and another big bat to the lineup. Senior Matt Correa (NAIA Thomas University Commit) brings energy and should really have a big year for the Rams. Look for him to be one of the top base stealers on the Treasure Coast.

#3 Martin County went 19-8 and won the 6A district 12 championship in 2022. We have them ranked #3 in our Preseason Rankings and project them to come in 2nd in the 6A District. Led by Head Coach Brett Hawkins who continues to lead his Tigers to successful seasons each year. The Tigers continue to put out great pitchers each year and always find ways to win games.

The Tigers had 7 senior players graduate in 2022 Key losses: Tyler Murphy (Florida Atlantic) Luis Alvarez (Coastal Alabama Juco) Brady Nash (Coastal Alabama Juco) and Kyle Davis.

2023 Key Players: Senior right-handed pitcher/first baseman Nick Robert (University of Miami commit) will be an imposing pitcher on the mound standing 6'5" and touching the 90's with his fastball. He can also get it done at the plate! Senior Jake Schincariol hit .395 last season and we expect him to continue this success. Junior Anthony Trigillo had a break out season last year as a sophomore hitting .385. Junior Dylan Murphy is one of the top catchers on the Treasure Coast and his bat has really caught fire he hit .325 last season. Senior Wes Cimperman hit .302 last season and has shown times of being a stand-out player and will need to do so if he wants to help the Tigers win another District Championship. Sophomores Logan Saake and Cody Bennin will have to also need to play big for the Tigers.

#4 South Fork went 17-7 during the 2022 season. 1st year Head Coach Dan Harper will have a mature team and should have a great season. We predict the Bulldogs to come in 3rd in 5A District 14. American Heritage and Okeechobee will be the teams to beat if the Bulldogs want to win the District and thats going to be a tough task. We have the Bulldogs Ranked 4th in our Pre-Season Rankings.

The Bulldogs lost 3 seniors but also lost a couple of guys that transferred. Key Losses: Dewayne Johns (D2-Emory & Henry College)

2023 Key Player: Junior infielder/pitcher Conner Wiggins has demonstrated that he is one of the elite players on the Treasure Coast hitting .377 last season. He will need to continue to lead by example if the Bulldogs want to make some noise this season. Senior Stephen Perez hit .314 last season and if healthy he should have a standout season. Look for Senior Emory Capps to have a huge year. He hits from the left side and will be healthy this year. Senior Right-Handed Pitcher Grant Jones, Right-Handed Pitcher Ian Wilson, Senior Logan Corcoran, Senior Right-Handed Pitcher John Roberts and Sophomore Greg Neu will give the Bulldogs what we consider the most depth at pitching throughout the Treasure Coast.

#5 Vero Beach It seems that year after year Vero is the team to beat on the Treasure Coast. Coach Bryan Rahal is losing a ton of talented guys from last season but it's Vero and there is always talent waiting in line for their opportunity. The Fighting Indians went 18-7 and finished 4th in 7A District 10 last season. We have them ranked #5 in our Pre-Season Rankings and project the Indians to once again regain the 7A District 10 Championship.

The Indians had 14 senior players graduate in 2022. Key losses include Travis Camp (D-1 Presbyterian College) Jacob Randolph (D-1 Presbyterian College) Laheim Bell (Juco-Eastern State College) Ryan Brown (Mississippi Valley State) RHP Zach Sigmon (D1 Mississippi Valley State) Harry Taylor, RHP Nick Szewczyk, Anthony Ragano.

2023 Key Players: Senior Ty Romans hit .403 last season and needs to have another great season to help lead Vero. We expect Junior Keenan Jabeth to make a big impact this season. He hit .312 as a sophomore last season. Senior Blake Houshouser went 5-0 on the mound last season and should lead the Indians pitching staff. Senior Cameren Perez will also need to bring a hot bat to the lineup to make up for all the lost seniors from last season. Sophomore catcher Cole Morgan will need to be a leader behind the dish to help what we believe will be a fairly new pitching staff.

#6 Sebastian went 12-13-1 during the 2022 season. Head Coach Greg Ange is in his first year with the Sharks and brings a new energy to the Sharks. We believe Coach Ange is going to bring the leadership needed to take this program to the next level! We have the Sharks Ranked 6th in our Pre-Season Rankings and project them to come in 2nd in the 6A District 12 behind Martin County.

The Sharks only lost 8 seniors in 2021. Key Losses: Zachary Santiso, Kody Flynt (NAIA-Warner University)

2023 Key Players: Senior Tyler Jones hit .390 last season, Senior Kix Hofer went 4-0 on the mound last season with a 1.77 ERA and should continue where he left off. We expect 6'6" Junior Right-Handed Pitcher Calvin Junek (D1-Dayton University Commit) to have a break out season this year for the Sharks on the mound and should sit mid to upper 80s.

#7 Okeechobee went 12-14 during the 2022 season and won the 5A District 12 Championship. The Brahmans are led by Head Coach Eric Kindell. Coach Kindell is a players coach that always has his team ready to compete. We have the Brahmans ranked 7th in our Treasure Coast Pre-Season Rankings and project them to come in 2nd in 5A District 14.

The Brahmans had only 4 seniors graduate and will have a young but gritty team again this season.

Key Losses: Jacob Hardy (Juco-Eastern State College)

2023 Key Players: Senior Braison Crews (Juco-College of Central Florida) could be the top outfielder on the Treasure Coast and is 90+ on the mound. We expect him to have a huge year for the Brahmans! Senior utility Jayce Markham had a break out season last year as a Junior and it should continue this season. Junior Gavin Kindell has really matured and he should solidify the infield. Sophomore Emery Coleman (D1-Tulane University Commit) was one of the top pitchers on the Treasure Coast last year and he should help take the Brahmans to the next level! Senior Enoch Busbin (NAIA-Lyon College Commit) and Junior Ethan Blomefield will also play an important role on the pitching staff this season.

#8 Centennial went 10-12 during the 2022 season. We have them ranked 8th in our Preseason Rankings and project the Eagles to come in 3rd in 7A District 10. With new Head Coach Vic Garcia and staff along with having a very young team the Eagles will really need to gel quickly to be ready to make a run at a District Championship.

The Eagles lost 5 seniors in 2022. Key Losses: Anthony Gomez

2023 Key Players: Senior Charlie Alonso hit .317 last season and should be a top outfielder along with bringing energy to the team. Senior right-handed pitcher John Riordan should be one of the top arms on the team this season throwing in the high 80's. Senior Left Handed Pitch Brian O'Shea should also have a big year on the mound. Look for Senior Bobby Boden (Juco-Clark State College Commit) to bring power to the middle of the line-up hitting from the left side. Sophomore catcher Sebastian Germano demonstrated last year that you may want to think about it if you decide to try and steal on him. He displays one of the best pop times on the Treasure Coast. Junior right-handed pitcher/3rd Baseman Zack Staples (Juco-Clark State College commit) give some quality innings on the mound and also contribute with his bat.

#9 Central went 11-12 during the 2022 season and came in 3rd in 7A District 10. The Cobras are led by Head Coach Jeff Rymer. We have the Cobras ranked 9th in our Pre-Season Rankings. Last season the Cobras roster was one of the best it has had in years. Unfortunately, they fell a bit short of their expectations. They are looking to regroup with a young talented pitching staff that can help them make a run for a District Championship this year! However, we see them finishing 2nd in the 7A District 10 behind Vero Beach. We just don't see the Cobras having enough offense to overtake them.

The Cobras graduated 10 seniors in 2022. Key Losses: Hunter Miller (NAIA-University of South Carolina Beaufort), Ethan Griffith (USCAA-Wright State University Lake Campus) Wyatt Peters (D3-North Park University) Trent Fleischman.

2023 Key Players: Senior right-handed pitcher/utility Michael Benedict (Juco-Eastern Florida State Commit) will be one of the hardest throwers on the Treasure Coast and we expect to see him sitting in the low 90's. If he has worked on his secondary pitches, he should dominate this season. Could possibly set himself up go in the MLB draft. Senior Isaiah Baez (Juco-Palm Beach State Commit) will lead the Cobras offense. This guy can swing it! Junior left-handed pitcher Ethan Schmidt is a crafty pitcher that has put on a couple more inches and stands around 6'3". We expect him to be a big part of the pitching rotation and should have a breakout season! Junior right-handed pitcher/Middle Infielder Ryan Winsker should solidify the infield and give the Cobras a good number of innings, mostly out of the bullpen in relief.

#10 Treasure Coast went 4-19 in the 2022 season and 0-7 in 7A District 10. They are led by Head Coach David Morales who comes into the 2023 season with a more veteran roster than last season. Last season was a down year for the Titans but we expect them to be much improved this season. We have them ranked 10th in our Preseason Rankings and project them to come in 5th in 7A District 10.

The Titans had 6 seniors graduate in 2022. Key losses: Nic Polanco

2022 Key Players: Junior Jacob Suazo didn't have his best season last year but we know this guy has it in him and we expect him to have a break-out season. Senior right handed pitcher Kyle Peterson (D2-Felician University Commit) needs to come out and shove. If he can do what he's capable of the Titans could make a run. Junior Logan Zavala led the team last season hitting .379 and we expect him to do the same this season. Senior Greyson Cripps will also be an important part of the pitching rotation and needs to solidify this pitching rotation..

#11 Lincoln Park went 7-14 in the 2022 season. The Greyhounds are led by Head Coach Timothy Howard. We have the Greyhounds Ranked 11th in our Preseason Rankings and project them to place 4th in the 3A District 11. However, we believe the Greyhounds will be much improved over last season and we can definitely expect them to upset some teams this season.

The Greyhounds graduated 4 Seniors. Key Losses: Kyle Gomez

2023 Key Players: Senior Jakob Warren should come in and lead this team in many categories. He hit .349 last season and should be a big part of the Greyhounds pitching staff. Junior Steven Dwyer hit .289 and he needs to better that this season. Senior Right-Handed Pitcher Joseph Topnick pitched 28.1 innings with a 3.46 ERA last season and is going to have to carry a heavy load this season on the mound to give Lincoln Park a chance. He's a competitor and should have a great season.

#12 Port St Lucie went 3-18 during the 2022 season. Head Coach Johnnie Rhoden will have a very young team this season. However, his experience will have them ready to come out and compete. We have the Jaguars Ranked 12th in our Preseason Rankings and project them to place 3rd in the 5A District 12.

8 Seniors graduated. Key Losses: Khamani Wright

2023 Key Players: Junior Catcher Josh Benefield hit .325 last season and should help his pitching staff. Junior Right-Handed Pitcher Christian Herrington will also need to really step up his game this year on the mound which we believe he will do so.

#13 Masters Academy went 4-9 in the 2022 season. New Head Coach George Young has put in a great amount of effort into the program and has given the team the most challenging schedule they have had in recent years. With added transfers and a more mature team we feel the Patriots will definitely upset some teams this season.  We have the Patriots coming in 3rd in 2A District 13 District.

2023 Key Players: Junior Gian Brown hit .356 last season. Senior Christian Snow hit .297 last season. Freshman Johnny Featherstone hit .529 last season. Freshman Kaleb Fowler hit.400 last season.

#14 Westwood went 1-15 in the 2022 season. The Panthers are led by Head Coach Chris Nixon. They will compete in the 5A District 13. Coach Nixon will have his work cut out for him again this season as he had a few guys transfer to different schools. This provides opportunities for guys to step up. We have Westwood Ranked 13th in our Preseason Rankings and Project them to come in last in their division.

Westwood only had 4 Seniors graduate. Key losses: Sean Wallman

2023 Key Players: Senior Jarvis Drayton hit .355 last season and will have to be big this season.

#15 St Edwards went 10-8 in the 2022 season.  Coach John Scruggs has a very young team along with many new names on his roster for 2023 season. We have the Pirates coming in 5th in the2A District 13 District.

2023 Key Players: Senior Tyler Beare hit .288 last season. Senior Alexander Roberts pitched 16 innings in 2022 and had a 1.75 ERA.
